Review: Samsung Glyde SCH-U940
The new Samsung Glyde SCH-U940 for Verizon Wireless is a powerful slider designed cell phone with decent performance. The Samsung Glyde has a lot of potential, with a smooth-sliding full-size QWERTY keyboard and a 2.8-inch touchscreen. The weighty feature set includes Bluetooth, a full HTML browser, GPS navigation, a 2.0-megapixel camera, and 3G. The Samsung Glyde is ready for the big fight in the market with the LG Voyager VX1000 and the AT&T’s iPhone.
The Samsung Glyde offers great call quality but its touch-screen design and controls don’t complement its features. The thick but still very compact bar-shaped 4.1-ounce Glyde measures 4 x 2 x .7 inches which comes with the midnight blue shell trimmed in chrome-colored plastic. The Glyde is featured with interactive touch screen where you’ll feel a small amount of tactile feedback and the slide-out keyboard design, slide-out QWERTY keyboard -a full alphabetic support keyboard, full HTML browser which provides view and bookmark option for all your favorite sites, and 2.0 megapixel camera and camcorder. The Glyde is equipped with stereo Bluetooth, speaker independent voice recognition, a voice memo recorder, and instant messaging.Verizon’s VZ Navigator provides turn-by-turn directions and a host of other features. The Samsung Glyde SCH-U940 also supports Yahoo Mail, Windows Live, Gmail, and AOL Mail accounts.
