Review: Dell Inspiron Mini 9

dell_mini_inspiron_1.jpgThe Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is a more configurable 8.9″ netbook by Dell which offers a small, low-power, inexpensive system quality. The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is equipped with 1GB of RAM, a 16GB solid-state hard drive (SSD), Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950, and Windows XP or Linux OS options .The Inspiron Mini 9 can also be reduced with smaller hard drive (4GB or 8GB), 512MB of RAM, an Ubuntu Linux OS or the Webcam to a lower-resolution option. The Mini 9 apparently includes an inactive internal mobile broadband antenna for internet access.

The design of the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is quite similar with Asus’ 9-inch Eee PC. The stylish Mini 9 exterior is covered in glossy plastics with smooth lines and rounded edges. Overall, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 look is quite nice, available in two different glossy black and white finish. The Inspiron Mini 9 offers the 8.9-inch 1,024×600-pixel screen shares space with a webcam above and two small speaker grilles below. The Inspiron Mini 9 includes three USB ports, headphone and mic jacks, a VGA out, SD card slot, an Ethernet jack, and optional integrated bluetooth. The Mini 9 is highly usable for Web surfing stuffs and provides good battery life. Inspite of all good features the mini 9 lacks due to clumsy keyboard design and no SSD options larger than 16GB.
