BenQ VA371 LCD TV Review
The VA371 departs from the company’s customary dull silver shade, draped instead in a blend of silver and black. To capitalise on the new color scheme and maintain a minimalist appeal, its TV controls have been repositioned to the side, kept out of view of preying eyes. This leaves the front clutter-free less the BenQ logo, power LED, remote sensor and perforated speaker grille situated below the LCD panel.
At 8W per channel, our expectation was low for the VA371’s onboard stereo speakers. As expected, the low-end delivery was close to non-existent, while its high-end counterpart was surprisingly muffled. Unlike the red push issue, the latter could be worked around by boosting the treble setting in the software menu. Stereo imaging-wise, the TV performed well within the limits of a bottom speaker system with a localisable sound stage.
Priced at AU$2,699, the latest BenQ VA371 represents good value with its combination of above-average picture quality and affordability. If you are shopping for a CRT TV replacement and have a shoestring budget to work with, this living room-friendly 37-incher is definitely worth a consideration.

Aigo A020 MP3 Watch
There are many doomsayers who proclaim that the music CD is dead and that the age of the MP3, the iPod and all related portable music devices are the future of the industry. Whether or not that’s true, there’s no denying the stampede from the technical boys in the electronics world to get on board the MP3 express.
Aigo’s answer is to devise a funky wristwatch in black and silver that both grants the wearer street-cred and includes the hidden ‘wow’ factor of a built-in MP3 player. Especially geared around the sports enthusiast who can play on the run or in the gym, the MP3 player is cunningly built into the strap, together with the USB cable, and both are intended to be invisible.
The watch supports MP3, WMA and ADPCM formats and the quality is clear, even with lots of motion. In addition, there’s a five setting equalization mode (Rock, Jazz, Classic, Pop and Normal) with the usual random, repeat all, and repeat track settings.
As well as the seductive styling – the black back lit dial plate, the glowing hands, the static resistant and scratch-proof finish – the pricing is reasonable. And it even claims to be waterproof, though we were a little reticent to try that out.
VMware Fusion Review and Downlaod

Fusion supports all Intel Mac hardware, including the new 64-bit Mac Pro and iMac. The virtual machines can have multiple virtual processors, taking advantage of the Intel Core Duo chips. Fusion supports high-speed USB 2.0 for a huge range of devices. Even devices that do not have drivers for Mac OS X will work in a virtual machine.
Saitek introduces Cyborg gaming mouse
Saitek comes up with a new gaming mouse for those in need of a little more precision than your standard off-the-shelf model. The Cyborg Mouse would earn its name through an exceptionally sharp, 3,200DPI laser sensor and an adjustable shell. Gamers will be able to slide the front section forwards and backwards to improve the fit, or remove weights from the base for quicker movement.
The four-way scroll wheel will also have an adjustable speed setting where other gaming mice only adjust the main tracking speed, Saitek notes. The peripheral maker is also set to include two freely programmable buttons and a set of media controls to change volume or pause music without reaching for speakers or the keyboard. The USB device is known to be intended for Windows systems but has not received either an official release date or a price.
Gizmos.es points out that Amazon UK currently has it listed with a release date of January 11th and a list price of £40 (or $83), although it can be had for £30 (or just over $60) at moment.
Google Thinks New With Distribution Network
Google Inc. is bringing up a distribution network for social networking applications, adding a new twist in the Internet search leader’s budding rivalry with rapidly maturing startup Facebook Inc.Although Google confirmed its plans late Tuesday, its new social networking platform won’t be unveiled until later this week.
Google hopes to build a one-stop shop for software developers who create tools that make it easier to share music, pictures, video etc. on social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace.com.The popularity of these applications, also known as ‘widgets’, has grown dramatically since Facebook opened its Web site to accommodate outside developers five months ago.
Microsoft trumped Google in the bidding for a piece of Facebook. Google’s bigger social networking ambition is believed to be one of the reasons Facebook decided to deepen its partnership with Microsoft instead.
Google now hopes to attract many of the same applications thriving on Facebook to its own network, dubbed ‘OpenSocial’. OpenSocial’s combined audience will exceed 100 million users, claims Google.Google also will feature the applications on its own social network, Orkut, which hasn’t attracted much traffic outside South America and India.
